Brass band. All ages welcome.
INTRODUCTION TO THE BAND
Frome Town Youth Band was first formed in 1997 to provide an opportunity for young people to learn and perform music in and around the local community.
Frome Town Band welcomes all players & beginners whatever ability or standard. If you want to play or have played and would like to join a fun and friendly band, please contact us or come along to a rehearsal.
With increasing number of adults wishing to join, the band opened its doors to all members of the community in 2018 and is now very much a community band, accessible to all. The band changed its name to Frome Town Band.
Frome Town Band comprises of a beginners training band, intermediate band and a main band, performing a broad repertoire of music which can be booked for any occasion. The band regularly plays at concerts, festivals, church services, fairs, fetes, as well as organizing fund-raising and PR events within the local community.
Frome Town Band is a not-for-profit organisation which funds it activities with its own generated income, donations and grants. The band aims to provide brass players of all ages and abilities in the area with an opportunity to come together to practice, share knowledge and encourage brass music development.
Our musical director is Chris Turner, a BMus graduate from the University of Surrey, who has 22 years' experience in professional and amateur musical theatre, working with both adults and children. Chris is also a composer, music and instrumental teacher, and is the founder and Director of ACTS theatre school in Warminster.
